Federal EIS on PATH 06/17/2010
Because PATH is planned to cross Federal land at Harpers Ferry National Park, the Appalachian Trail and the C & O Canal National Park, an environmental impact statement must be prepared. Scoping meetings will be held in mid-July and we need everyone to participate in this process. The public comment meetings will be held: July 19, 2010 - 4-8pm - Quality Inn, Harpers Ferry, WV July 20, 2010 - 4-8pm - Loudoun Valley High School, Purcellville, VA July 21, 2010 - 4-8pm Tuscarora High School, Frederick, MD July 22, 2010 - 4-8pm Tucker Co. High School, Davis, WV If you cannot attend in person and make comment, you may instead submit your comments in writing either via the web here or via U.S. Mail to: National Park Service ATTN: PATH EIS Planning Team Denver Service Center -- Planning P.O. Box 25287 Denver, CO 80225 Here in the Eastern Panhandle, these are our local parks -- the ones we visit frequently and the ones we proudly show off to those who come to visit us. Please help to protect these valuable resources by becoming an active participant in the scoping process. Calhoun Powerline has a very informative article about the process, what you can do and how important it is that you contribute. Watch this website and Calhoun Powerline for more information. If you need help with your comments or have additional questions email keryn@stoppathwv.com CommentsDa Hillbilly Fri, 18 Jun 2010 5:57:39 am I am plannig on attending all four meetings if possible, the only one in question might be Tucker county, however, if someone would like to ride share up there it's a beautiful trip and we could probably work this out. These four meeting are so important in order to preserve the natural beauty of our state. Would you want to take a visitor to our state to Blackwaterfalls with a huge transmission line above them? Or how about Harpers Ferry where much of our nations history was created? These are not just pretty places, this are significant historic treasures that could be lost FOREVER! If a transmission line comes through now, what happens later? Da Hillbilly Fri, 18 Jun 2010 7:55:13 am What would happen if Mount Rushmore or the Grand canyon were being threatened to have a transmission line croos them? I mean really, could you see our founding fathers with wires coming from their noses? If PATH, or transmission corporations like them, had their way, you would see this happen ... ALL IN THE NAME OF GREED! Keryn Fri, 18 Jun 2010 11:58:53 am Someone's going to have a transmission line coming from their nose, and it ain't gonna be Roosevelt!
